19-year-old begins bid to smash world solo flight record from Belgium

Nineteen-year-old Zara Rutherford began her bid to become the youngest woman to fly solo around the world on Wednesday, leaving Belgium for a planned odyssey spanning 52 countries and five continents. A website tracking her journey showed she had taken off from the town of Kortrijk headed towards the Channel Sea. “The moment that you lift off the ground, you forget everything.
