Austrian far-right leader distances himself from party donor issue

Austria’s former vice chancellor and far-right leader Heinz-Christian Strache distanced himself from the issue of party donations during his trial for corruption on Monday. “I have never been interested in donations,” he told Vienna’s regional court. The case revolves around donations of 12,000 euros (14,000 dollars) to Strache’s far-right Freedom Party (FPOe) by the operator of a hospital in Vienna. At the time Strache was party chairman.
