Former German world champion cyclist Levy to retire

Germany’s former four-time track cycling world champion Maximilian Levy has confirmed he will retirement from the sport and take up a position as a national junior coach. “The moment is exactly right. There is nothing I could have done better,” he told a press conference in Cottbus on Monday. “I step down as reigning European champion in sprint and Keirin and still had super results from the Olympic Games.” Levy, 34, will not contest the coming European or world championships this year and instead retire after a last entry at Berlin’s six-day race in January.
