German election candidate Scholz defends anti-money-laundering unit

With just six days to go before Germany’s national elections, the front-runner for the chancellorship, Finance Minister Olaf Scholz, has defended himself against accusations that he had failed to properly counter money-laundering. Social Democrat (SPD) Scholz was called in front of a parliamentary committee to answer questions about recent raids on the Finance Ministry focussed on the FIU anti-money laundering unit.
