Germany’s Laschet defends talking to man with little distance

The centre-right candidate to be the next German chancellor, Armin Laschet, is on the defensive again after being criticized for a public conversation in close proximity with a critic of anti-coronavirus measures while not wearing a mask. Laschet spoke to the man at a very close distance after he suddenly appeared on stage during a public event in the eastern city of Erfurt on Friday evening, three weeks before nationwide polls.
