Italy to start offering vaccine booster shots this month

Italy will begin offering a third coronavirus vaccine shot to vulnerable groups, such as those with weak immune systems, starting at the end of this month, the government said on Thursday. Prime Minister Mario Draghi announced the initiative and said that Italy’s vaccination campaign was on the right track, having reached 70 per cent of the population aged 12 and over. By the end of September the number of people fully protected should be around 80 per cent, he said.
