Leverkusen held in Berlin, Wolfsburg make winning start

Bayer Leverkusen fought back to draw 1-1 at Union Berlin in their Bundesliga opener on Saturday while there were wins for Wolfsburg, Hoffenheim and VfB Stuttgart. Leverkusen, under new coach Gerardo Seoane, fell behind to Taiwo Awoniyi’s early solo goal for Union but quickly levelled with an equally fine strike by Moussa Diaby. Union were a surprise seventh last season and again gave a good account of themselves against the side which finished one spot higher.
