More than 1,000 people battling southern France wildfire

More than 1,000 firefighters and emergency responders have been deployed against a large blaze that broke out in southern France at the weekend, the French interior minister said on Sunday. Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin also said that firefighting aircraft had been sent to the blaze burning in a forested area between the cities of Narbonne and Carcassonne. The fire, which ignited on Saturday, has so far burned an area of around 8.5 square kilometres. French media said there have been no reports of injuries.
