Protest against far-right politician at anti-Islam rally in Dresden

Several hundred people demonstrated in the eastern German city of Dresden on Monday, against a planned appearance by a far-right politician at an event organized by the anti-asylum and xenophobic Pegida movement. A broad alliance of politicians and initiatives had called for the protest against Alternative for Germany (AfD) member Bjoern Hoecke, who leads the party’s extremist Der Fluegel (The Wing) faction.
