Protesters across Germany demand speedy airlifts for Afghan refugees

Groups protested across Germany on Sunday, demanding the quick and unbureaucratic evacuation of threatened people in Afghanistan following the takeover by Taliban forces in the conflict-ridden country. Under pouring rain, hundreds of demonstrators gathered in front of the Federal Chancellery in Berlin. Speakers demanded, among other things, the fast evacuation of local forces of the Bundeswehr, human rights activists, women’s rights activists, scientists and female athletes.
