West starts to wonder how long it can keep Kabul airlift going

Western allies are trying to figure out how many more people they can get out of Kabul, with just more than a week to go before the Taliban says it will stop allowing the Afghan evacuation operation that began when it conquered the capital on August 15. Much of the focus is now on a videoconference of G7 national leaders set for Tuesday. The current US plans calls for all its troops to be out of the country by August 31, but British Prime Minister Boris Johnson wants to convince US President Joe Biden to give rescuers more time.
