German conservative head hits back at criticism of flight to wedding

German Christian Democrat (CDU) leader Friedrich Merz has defended his journey by private plane to the wedding of Finance Minister Christian Lindner after he came in for some criticism for flying to the event. He has no regrets about travelling by plane, Merz said on Sunday in an interview for the public broadcaster ZDF. “To put it in a nutshell: I use less fuel in this small plane than any official car of a member of the German government.
