Munich’s urban rail expansion hit with major cost overruns and delays

The expansion of Munich’s urban train network – one of the largest infrastructure projects under way in Germany – will be completed years late and billions over budget, a Bavarian minister said on Thursday. Munich is building a second core route on its S-Bahn network, which carries people in and around the Bavarian city. Planners say it will ease traffic bottlenecks across the public transport system.
