38 dead, dozens missing after Cyclone Tauktae slams into India

At least 38 people were dead and 90 missing on Tuesday after an “extremely severe” cyclone slammed into India’s western coast, compounding the country’s woes as it struggles with a deadly wave of the coronavirus pandemic. Cyclone Tauktae left a trail of destruction in Gujarat state after landfall late on Monday, damaging homes, toppling trees and power lines and forcing huge numbers of people to flee to shelters.
