A half-year wait for a new car: How chip shortages are hitting buyers

My kingdom for a car! All over the planet, anyone buying a new set of wheels at the moment has to accept an unusually long wait. “It depends on the make and model, but the delivery time for the majority has settled at three to six months,” says Marcus Weller, market expert at the German Association of Motor Trades and Repairs (ZDK). For some premium models, customers even have to wait nine months to a year before they see their car being delivered.
