Araki in Vienna: Two shows on Japan’s most provocative photo artist

Nobuyoshi Araki has much more to offer than eroticism and bondage. The world-famous Japanese photo artist is at the centre of two major exhibitions in Vienna that focus on his most private and emotional images. The Museum Albertina Modern and the Fotogalerie Westlicht originally wanted to honour Araki independently with a show last year on his 80th birthday, however because of the pandemic, they are only now opening in May.
