Britain’s theatre scene, changed by pandemic, emerges from lockdown

After several months of standstill, the British cultural sector is slowly coming back to life. “Monday is a moment of excitement,” Julian Bird of the Society of London Theatres told us ahead of the opening of the first stages in May. “It’s the start of the recovery.” Theatres and cinemas in England are being allowed to welcome audiences back, both indoors and out, provided they use only half their actual capacity to allow spacing.
