Conservatives take lead in Cyprus parliamentary elections

Initial results out of the Cypriot parliamentary elections on Sunday showed the conservative Democratic Rally (DISY) party in the lead. With 20 per cent of votes counted, the DISY had 27 per cent of the votes, according to state broadcaster RIK, citing the election commission. In 2016, it garnered 30.7 per cent of votes. The second-strongest party so far is the left-wing Progressive Party of Working People (AKEL) with 21.3 per cent. In third place is the Democratic Party (DIKO), with 12.6 per cent.
