Covid protesters clash with police in German city of Magdeburg

Protesters demonstrating against coronavirus restrictions have clashed with police in the central German city of Magdeburg. Authorities said people had broken through police lines, and also thrown bottles and pyrotechnics at officers. No police officers were initially reported injured. Some 2,500 people had gathered for the protest in Magdeburg, one of several mass demonstrations against the German government’s pandemic policies on Monday evening. As with many of the demonstrations, the event in Magdeburg had not been registered with the local authority.
