Device that helps dogs call owners could ease pet separation anxiety

At a time when many so-called “pandemic puppies” are suddenly being left alone while owners are called back to the office after a lengthy time at home during the pandemic, a device has been created to allow dogs to video call their owners. The system, dubbed DogPhone, works when a pet picks up and shakes a ball fitted with an accelerometer. When the accelerometer senses movement, it prompts a video call on a screen connected to the device.
