EU to donate 100 million jabs as vaccine rates rise across bloc

Amid rising vaccination rates across the European Union, the 27 EU leaders on Tuesday committed to collectively donate at least 100 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine to countries in need by the end of 2021. The bloc, which described itself in a joint statement signed off at summit in Brussels as “the largest exporter of Covid-19 vaccines to the world,” also said it would help step up production capacity outside the EU.
