German government expects lower economic growth for 2021

The German government is planning to significantly lower its economic forecast for this year, according to dpa sources. It now expects gross domestic product to grow by just 2.6 per cent in 2021 – in April, the government said it had been expecting 3.5 per cent growth. There’s a more optimistic outlook for next year, however. For 2022, the federal government expects growth of 4.1 per cent rather than its previous forecast of 3.6 per cent.
