German parliament to debate new government’s supplementary budget

Germany’s parliament will discuss the new government’s supplementary budget on Thursday, with a debate expected to focus on whether money set aside to fight the pandemic may be used to help the climate instead. Finance Minister Christian Lindner wants to reallocate 60 billion euros (67.8 billion dollars) for investments in climate protection and digitization that were approved as loans for this year, but are not needed.
