Huawei launches Android alternative in push to move past US sanctions

Huawei, in its latest effort to soften the blow of US sanctions that have blocked the Chinese tech giant’s use of Google services, launched a new operating system for smartphones, tablets and smartwatches on Wednesday. Huawei’s HarmonyOS is the first major attempt to establish a third mobile platform alongside Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android since the demise of Windows Mobile.
