Iran agrees to extension of limited nuclear inspections by IAEA

Iran has agreed to a deal that will allow the current inspection regime for its nuclear programme to be extended until June 24, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced on Monday. The interim solution “is not ideal,” conceded IAEA head Rafael Grossi. But “it is a way to avoid flying completely blind and losing essential information,” he added. Western diplomats had previously warned that efforts to save the 2015 Iran nuclear deal would be in jeopardy without the IAEA inspections.
