Iranian president says chances of nuclear agreement with US wasted

Iran’s chances of reaching a new nuclear deal with the United States were wasted, according to outgoing Iranian President Hassan Rowhani. “I very much regret that obstacles were placed in the government’s path and thus the chance of an early agreement in the nuclear negotiations was squandered,” Rowhani said on Wednesday. Rowhani blamed hardliners in the country, who not only oppose the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, but are also against making a new agreement in negotiations currently being held in Vienna.
