Macron welcomes European Commissioners on eve of presidency talks

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and a group of other commissioners to Paris on Thursday evening. They are due to hold talks on Friday, focusing on the French priorities for the EU Council Presidency, a rotating post. Paris seeks to focus on climate change, as well as reaching an agreement on a minimum wage for the bloc during its presidency, which runs through to June. The European Commission’s visit began with a working lunch at the Élysée Palace, ahead of talks on Friday.
