Marxist or right-wing populist? Peruvians pick their next president

Peru’s presidential election has kicked a contest that boils down to which political extreme can flex the most muscle: Marxist village schoolteacher Pedro Castillo or right-wing populist Keiko Fujimori. Both were essentially tied in the last poll before Sunday’s run-off. Castillo wants to build a socialist state, tighten control of the media and abolish the constitutional court if she wins the election.
