Angela Merkel expressed optimism over new US President Joe Biden on the final day of the G7 summit in England – and her last as chancellor of Germany after 16 years at the top. Biden was welcomed at the weekend into the ranks of the other leaders of the world’s largest industrialized democracies, many of whom he met in person for the first time as president. “By electing Joe Biden as US president, after all, it’s not like the world no longer has problems.
