New president of Germany’s Bundesbank formally installed

The central bank of Germany, the Bundesbank, got a new boss on Friday when Joachim Nagel was formally appointed by the nation’s president. The 55-year-old economist took on the role at the turn of the year. However, his title as Bundesbank president was made official at a ceremony with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at Bellevue Palace in Berlin. Nagel takes over from Jens Weidmann, who resigned for personal reasons in October after serving as president of the Frankfurt-based bank for almost a decade.
