New Yorkers storm city’s newest park, a floating island on the Hudson

Following years of discussions, delays and exploding costs, New York finally has its long-awaited island park. At the end of May, hundreds of visitors were storming the gates of “Little Island,” a park built on tulip-shaped stilts in the Hudson River off Manhattan’s western shore. Besides flowers, trees, lawns and spectacular views of one of the world’s most famous skylines, the park also includes an open-air theatre and snack bars.
