‘No awkwardness’ for Germany’s Loew as Mueller and Hummels arrive

Germany’s Euro training camp starts in earnest on Friday but coach Joachim Loew said there was “no awkwardness” as Thomas Mueller and Mats Hummels rejoin the squad two years after being dropped. The majority of his squad for the June 11-July 11 Euros will arrive at the camp in Austria on Friday with a first training session also due. Mueller, 31, and Hummels, 32, were World Cup winners under Loew in 2014 but were told in 2019 they would no longer be considered for the time being.
