Police raid homes after state premier faces death threats, plot

Police in eastern Germany have searched a number of properties as part of an investigation into death threats made against the premier of Saxony, Michael Kretschmer. The operation took place in and around the city of Dresden, and involved searches in six properties. A police spokesman said officers were investigating a serious crime endangering the state. The operation, which began in the early hours of Wednesday morning, centres on threats allegedly made on the online channel Telegram. Five men and one woman were arrested.
