Pope Francis wants to gather Lebanon’s religious leaders for a meeting in the Vatican early in July, he said on Sunday, as a crisis continues to rock the Mediterranean country. The pope announced his plans to those gathered in Saint Peter’s Square, saying he wanted to discuss the worrying situation in Lebanon. Pope Francis met Lebanon’s prime minister-designate Saad Hariri in April and called for a solution to the political crisis in the country. He has said he would visit as soon as conditions allow it.
