Several die, dozens missing in migrant crossings near Greek islands

At least four people died when a boat with dozens of migrants on board sank north-west of the island of Crete, the coast guard said. About 90 other people managed to reach a rocky outcrop nearby after the accident on Thursday evening, a coast guard spokesperson told dpa on Friday. The Greek coast guard has started a rescue operation to bring the migrants to safety. On Wednesday, three migrants had drowned when another boat sank in the Aegean Sea near the island of Folegandros.
