Study: Lost sense of smell due to Covid returns for most by 8 months

Good news for people who lost their sense of smell after becoming ill with Covid-19: A recent French study shows that almost all people fully regain the ability to smell within eight months. After this period of time, the study found, 49 out of 51 subjects no longer suffered from loss of smell. For two people in the study, however, this was not the case, even after a year of being recovered. The study, led by Marion Renaud of Strasbourg University Hospitals,speaks of an “excellent prognosis” for regaining a sense of smell.
