Texas records what’s believed to be first known omicron death in US

Texas has recorded what is likely to be the country’s first COVID-19 death from the omicron variant, an unvaccinated man in his 50s with underlying health conditions. No sooner had the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that the omicron variant of the novel coronavirus constituted 73% of cases nationwide, than the country recorded its first death from the variant.
