Wolfsburg assistant Frontzeck in temporary charge as Van Bommel axed

Assistant Michael Frontzeck has been named as interim coach at Wolfsburg, the Bundesliga club said on Monday following the sacking of Mark van Bommel. The 57-year-old former Germany international will lead training “until further notice,” Wolfsburg announced. Van Bommel, only appointed in June, was sacked on Sunday with the club having gone eight games without a win in all competitions. Frontzeck’s career as a head coach includes stints at Borussia Moenchengladbach, Arminia Bielefeld, Alemannia Aachen, Hanover and St. Pauli.
