Zverev cruises into Wimbledon third round

Alexander Zverev played his way into the Wimbledon third round with a strong performance, beating United States’ Tennys Sandgren 7-5, 6-2, 6-3 on Thursday. World number six Zverev had no problems against Sandgren, ranked 68th, after an even opening phase and won after 1 hour 44 minutes. He will now face the winner of the duel between Taylor Fritz and Steve Johnson on Saturday. “I’m on a good path, but it was also only a second round. The next games will tell more,” the German player said. Zverev has the chance to reach the last 16 of the grand slam grass tournament for the second time.
